Apprentices and Graduates
Apprentices and Graduates
BTG is a rapidly growing healthcare company, and key to our success is the quality of our people and the way we conduct business. Everything we do is guided by our values and behaviours, and we always strive to do what’s right for patients, customers and our other stakeholders.
We bring people into the organisation who want to develop professionally and personally in a fast-paced environment. We are always looking for new talented individuals to join us on our journey. If you are at the beginning of your career, or perhaps entering the workforce for the first time, one of the following programmes could be the right option for you.
Apprenticeships at BTG
In the UK we offer a number of apprenticeships each year in roles range from Marketing, IT and Purchasing, to Laboratory and Manufacturing. These opportunities are spread across our Wales, Farnham and Camberley sites. To be eligible for an Apprenticeship you must not hold any qualifications at or above a level four or equivalent, and you must meet the requirements of the job specifications, which may vary depending on the vacancy for which you apply.Show moreShow less
Are you finishing your GCSEs or A-levels and wondering, what’s next? With the choice of university, college or an apprenticeship, sometimes the choices can seem overwhelming. Whatever you decide, the journey you choose has to be right for you.
As an apprentice at BTG, you will gain job-specific skills while working towards receiving a nationally recognised qualification that BTG will fund to help you on your way to a long-term career.
Is an Apprenticeship at BTG right for you?
Consider the experiences you’ve had and the skills you’ve developed throughout your academic journey, and how they might help you with an apprenticeship at BTG.
• Perhaps you have captained a school sports team where you demonstrated strong leadership skills and teamwork; or
• Maybe you’ve worked a part time job that has helped you learn to deal with difficult and unfamiliar situations while remaining calm under pressure; or
• Perhaps you’ve raised money for a local charity by organising and delivering a sponsored event
If so, you might be just the person we are looking for!
Here’s what we offer…
• An opportunity to gain practical on-the-job skills and earn as you learn
• 2-3 years NVQ programme, depending on the chosen work stream
• Continuous Learning & Development opportunities through the BTG L&D Agenda
• A discretionary performance-related bonus
• Keep an eye on our current opportunities
• Send us your CV with a covering letter and apply for your chosen position
• Someone from the HR Team will be in touch with information on next steps once your application has been received.
UK Graduate Programme at BTG
Our two-year graduate programme, currently on offer in the UK only, is designed to give University graduates the opportunity to fast track their knowledge while gaining experience from internal mentors and business leaders with a variety of tailored placements. The first year is rotational and designed to give graduates an understanding of key functions within BTG and a well-rounded understanding of the business. The focus for the second year is determined by what the graduate discovers about the business in year one, and on a chosen project in one business area.Show moreShow less
Our talent pipeline is just as important to us as our R&D pipeline; our people are crucial to ensuring we can meet the ongoing needs of our business. This is a two-year programme designed to give graduates the opportunity to fast-track their knowledge while gaining experience from internal mentors and business leaders.
Here’s what we are looking for…
• Highly motivated people who are educated to a degree level in Life Science or Engineering
• Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communications
• Ability to oversee multiple projects, deal with changing priorities and work to deadline
• A "can do" attitude and positive approach
The first 12 months is a rotation year designed to give graduates an understanding of three key functions within BTG, along with a well-rounded understanding of the business. For example, a graduate might complete a 4-month rotation slot around Operations / Research & Development / Commercial. During this time, graduates will experience our exciting business first-hand and contribute to significant work objectives. Each graduate is assigned to an experienced Manager who will be responsible for supporting development and performance.
The focus of the second year is determined by what the graduate discovers about the business in year one. It is at this point that we review the progress of each graduate and a decision is made on what part of the business is the best fit. For example, the graduate may join R&D for the next year where they would take ownership of a project and be managed by a key stakeholder in that area of the business.
For the entire journey, a mentor will provide guidance and help the graduate pick a business case project in year two. At the end of the 2-year programme, and depending on open vacancies, opportunities and performance, graduates may be considered for permanent roles.
“The BTG Graduate Programme gives successful candidates the opportunity to develop in maturity by working with a mixture of people with different backgrounds. Graduates will be exposed to a variety of projects across different functions, which will deepen their understanding of patients, product portfolios, customers, supply chain, logistics, and project management. During the placement there may also be a chance to travel to some of our global sites and learn more about our distinctive culture.”
